Synopsis

TheatreZone's Lorca in the Park offers free performances of Blood Wedding/Bodas de Sangre by Federico Garcia Lorca in Mary O'Malley Park, alternating between performances in English and the Spanish original. Based on a true story of love, lust, and betrayal, the play is one of the most powerful and innovative written this century. Lorca wrote his best known play years after reading a newspaper account of a young bride in Andalusia who abandoned her husband-to-be on their wedding day to escape with her childhood sweetheart.

English performances: Friday, July 11; Wednesday, July 16; Friday July 18
Spanish performances: Saturday, July 12; Thursday, July 17; Saturday, July 19

In case of rain performances will be moved indoors to the Chelsea Theatre Works, 189 Winnisimmet St., Chelsea Square.
