Synopsis

Bel Canto, written by Daniel Alexander Jones, is the story of sixteen-year-old, Benjamin Turner. When the radiant diva Marian Anderson appears to serenade him, he knows his life will never be the same. Springfield, Massachusetts is not the most welcoming new home for the bi-racial, Berkeley-raised boy wearing his heart on his sleeve, but then, where in this world would be? Terence, a shy outcast at school with a sercret and Barbara Scarlatti, a larger-than-life former opera singer, sweep Benjamin into his passions with the force of a hurricane. As Marian watches, Benjaimin and his struggling mother, Bessie, must deal with the impact of wishes coming true in all their terror and beauty.
