In conjunction with the Huntington Theatre Company's 2008-2009 Season opener, Richard Nelson's How Shakespeare Won the West (September 5-October 5), Nelson and historian Doris Kearns Goodwin will discuss President Abraham Lincoln's love of the works of William Shakespeare in Lincoln's Love of Shakespeare: A conversation with Doris Kearns Goodwin and Richard Nelson, October 4, in Huntington's mainstage theater.

Nelson received an Olivier Award for his play Goodnight Children Everywhere, a Tony Award for James Joyce's The Dead, and an OBIE Award for The Vienna Notes. His other writing credits include Jungle Coup, The Return of Pinocchio, as well as adaptations of The Cherry Orchard, The Marriage of Figaro, Miss Julie, and The Suicide.
