MiG Ayesa, LaChanze, and J. Robert Spencer will join conductor Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops for Handel's Messiah Rocks, at the Cutler Majestic Theatre, September 21 at 7pm.
Blending classical music with classic rock, the program examines themes of faith, love and peace while breathing new life into Handel's most performed oratorio.
Ayesa is best known as a finalist on CBS' Rockstar: INXS; LaChanze won a Tony for The Color Purple; and Spencer originated the role of Nick Massi in the Broadway blockbuster Jersey Boys. Also performing will be the University Choir of the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, to be directed by Murray Kidd.
The performance will be filmed for later broadcast on PBS.
