Nice Work If You Can Get It, a musical to star Harry Connick, Jr. and featuring a score by George and Ira Gershwin and a book by Joe DiPietro, has postponed its engagement at Boston's Colonial Theatre, December 16-January 11, according to a report in The Boston Globe. No statement has been issued if the show will ever play Boston or if it will arrive on Broadway in February 2009 as originally announced.

Last month, director and choreographer Kathleen Marshall resigned from the project, and no replacement has been named. According to other reports, a number of original investors and producers also withdrew their financial interest at that time.

The story concerns a Long Island playboy, bootleggers and golddiggers. DiPietro wrote the books for All Shook Up, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, The Thing About Men, and Memphis.

Connick received a Tony nomination for The Pajama Game. He has appeared in such films as Bug, Memphis Belle, and Little Man Tate and co-starred in the NBC series Will & Grace. He has won three Grammy Awards for his recordings, won an Emmy Award for his special Harry Connick, Jr.: Only You in Concert, and received a Tony nomination for the score of Thou Shalt Not.
