Trinity Rep has announced its selections for its 2008-2009 season, which will kick off with artistic director Curt Columbus' world premiere of Antigone Anew (September 19-October 26). Inspired by Sophocles' classic, and adapted for Trinity's resident acting company, the play reframes questions about personal and social responsibility in our times.

Next up will be Adam Bock's The Receptionist (December 5-January 11), directed by Columbus. This office comedy takes an unexpected turn that promises to get under your skin. The season will continue with Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, directed by Brian McEleney (January 30-March 8). The play tells the story of three generations of an African-American family living and struggling together on Chicago's South Side in the 1950s.

David Hare's The Secret Rapture will follow, February 20-March 29. Directed by Columbus, the play places political and moral issues within the intimate frame of one family's crisis. Next will be Oscar Wilde's classic comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest, directed by Beth Milles (April 10-May 17).

The season will conclude with the world premiere of Shapeshifter, by Laura Schellhardt, directed by Laura Kepley (May 1-June 7). After a terrible storm, as they wait for the fishermen's return, Midge and her grandfather tell each other a story -- which feels almost real. The lyrical play is about our hunger to change the ones we love, and to change ourselves for them.

In addition, Trinity Rep Conservatory graduate Liesl Tommy will direct Trinity Rep's 32nd annual all-new production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol (November 21- December 31).
