(© Joseph Marzullo/Retna) | Amir Arison, Lisa Birnbaum, Sean Dugan, Laith Nakli, CIgdem Onat, Darren Pettie, and Rafi Silver will star in Huntington Theatre Company's world premiere of Sinan Unel's The Cry of the Reed, to play March 28-May 3. The production, which will open officially on April 9, will be directed by Daniel Goldstein.
The play concerns a journalist and her colleague , who find themselves unexpectedly detained by a band of insurgents as bombs rain down on a war-torn landscape. Her captors offer one telephone call: a chance to reconnect with the mother she hasn't spoken to in many years, who now lives in Turkey and is preparing for a festival celebrating the great Sufi poet Rumi.
The creative team will include Eugene Lee (sets), Laurie Chuban (costumes), Michael Chybowski (lighting), and Eric Shim (sound and music composition).
