Training Wisteria centers around a particularly hectic day in the lives of an average, recently-turned-dysfunctional family. The parents - Lynn and Stephen - have recently divorced. Their children - Rachel, Dylan, and Kacie - have adapted their own unique coping mechanisms to deal with this change.

While the family gathers in preparation for Dylan's high school graduation party, Lynn, at the head of it all, directs her frustrations into the seemingly hopeless project of training her unruly yard. As the day progresses, tensions hit a boiling point, until everyone is forced to re-evaluate their ideas about family, loss, and coping with it all.
