WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The Theater Offensive presents the Obie-winning lesbian troupe Split Britches in SALAD OF THE BAD CAFÉ, coming to Boston directly from its World Premiere in New York City. This play follows racial, gender and regional stereotypes such as the drunken homosexual, the gender outlaw, the Japanese inventor, the redneck cowboy, the faded southern belle, the geisha and the soldier. These characters and others come together to tell a story of unrequited love. The piece combines poetry, visual humor and dance in an attempt to demystify the Queer, disorient the Orient and demystify the Southern Gothic and the American Grotesque.
