WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
SpeakEasy Stage debuts a new version of the hit Off-Broadway musical Ruthless!. The show, which won the 1993 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical, is being reworked for both a West End and a New York run, and show creators Joal Paley and Marvin Laird have selected SpeakEasy and Boston to try out the revised book and a new song. It parodies classic films such as The Bad Seed, Gypsy, The Women and All About Eve as it tells the story young Tina Denmark, a 9 year old girl who will stop at nothing, including murder, to get the lead in her elementary school play. Larry Coen directs.
Recommended for children 12 and up.
