The Winthrop Playmakers presents Proof, by David Auburn, directed by Rachel Belliveau. One of the most acclaimed plays of recent years, Proof explores the fine line between intellect and insanity. In the play, Catherine, is an enigmatic young woman who has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, Robert. Throughout the play, Catherine must not only come to terms with her father's death but also must deal with the arrival of her over-attentive sister, Claire, and a former student of her father's, Hal. As Catherine confronts Hal's affections and Claire's plans for her future, she struggles to answer her deepest and most disturbing question: How much of her father's madness -- or genius -- has she inherited?
