WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Park Bench Passions: Gay & Lesbian Matchups in the Heart of the City, a pair of one-acts entitled "Alphabet of Flowers" by Elyse Nass and "1001 Tricks, or The Evanescent Cruise Through the Universe" by Ed Valentine is presented by C.A.P.E., Inc. every Monday at 7 PM through August 29 at the Provincetown Inn, 1 Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA

The first one-act "Alphabet of Flowers" is by New York City playwright Elyse Nass. It is about two 60-year-old women who meet for a long-planned reunion having been lovers in college many years before. The play features Cape award-winning performer/writer Marjorie Conn and noted actor/director Karen Maloney.

Last summer the play was presented at the Golden Threads Celebration in Provincetown to enthusiastic response. The play was originally presented as a special benefit performance for the Greenwich House Theater Company in New York City featuring Academy Award winner Kim Hunter (Streetcar Named Desire) and two-time Oscar nominee Sylvia Miles.

The second one-act "1001 Tricks, or The Evanescent Cruise Through the Universe" is a brand new play by New York City playwright Ed Valentine. The play is about what happens when Archer's boyfriend leaves him alone for only a moment on a park bench. Archer is tempted by a shirtless jogger and a thousand other tricks to dally in the bushes. Will Archer find a new lover or lose himself in the woods? The play features well-known Cape actor Beau Babineau and versatile New York City and Cape actor, Andy Reynolds.

Both plays are directed by Susan Grilli, a Provincetown resident who has worked extensively in all aspects of theatre around the country.
