WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Boston filmmaker and forensic psychologist Dr. Maryanne Galvin presents the world premiere of her third documentary, High, Fast and Wonderful, at Jimmy Tingle's Off Broadway Theater as a fundraiser for the West End Boys & Girls Club in Allston. The evening includes a reception with light refreshments, a monologue by comic Jimmy Tingle before the film, and a discussion with Galvin and her film's subjects after the film.

The film focuses on the work of three priests ministering to three unusual sets of parishioners: National Circus Chaplain Father Gerry Hogan, Father Phil DeRea of the Champion Auto Racing Team (CART) Ministries, and Father Richard Wilson, of the Office for the Pastoral Care of Migrants & Refugees who ministers to migrant workers on Nantucket and in Fall River. Their work is overseen by Sister Charlotte Hobelman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, who coordinates an unusual mission called "People on the Move." The film also explores the spiritual concerns of the filmmaker who was experiencing her own set of personal crises: two cancer surgeries in six months, laid off one job and facing diminishing prospects, and the sudden death of her friend, Brian Honan.

The film is narrated by Annie Copps, Food Editor at Boston Magazine and a radio host on 96.9 FM Talk. The original score was written by Berklee College of Music alumni Jon Lay.
