Set in cosmopolitan Paris, London and New York, Design for Living offers Noel Coward's rapier wit at its double-edged best. Widely considered to be scandalous when it first appeared in 1932, Design for Living was promptly banned on the London stages until well after the 1933 Broadway production featuring Lynn Fontanne, Alfred Lunt, and Noel Coward (who also directed). One of Coward's great early successes, this resonant tale of a love triangle between a painter, a playwright, and an interior designer explores the delicate emotional dance of relationships.
