WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Camp Logan tells the story of the all-black 24th Infantry during the summer of 1917, the men from Columbus, N.M., were anxious to get to France to fight alongside their white counterparts in World War I. Instead, they found themselves in Houston being used as laborers and the victims of several racial attacks. The men resisted and finally marched on the town killing more than 20 townspeople. Their actions created a media sensation, resulting in the largest court-martial in military history. Many of the men were hanged, others received lengthy prison sentences.
Camp Logan is presented as part of the 2008 African American Theatre Festival.
