WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The classic musical by Alan Jay Lerner (book and lyrics) and Frederick Loewe (music). The winner of four Tony awards when it debuted on Broadway in 1960, Camelot is based on the King Arthur legend as adapted from the T.H. White novel, The Once and Future King. The entire community of Camelot awaits the arrival of Guenevere, King Arthur of England's future Queen. Members of the audience are quickly drawn in by some of the enchanting musical numbers including "The Simple Joys of Maidenhood," "The Lusty Month of May," "How to Handle a Woman," "I Loved You Once in Silence," "If Ever I Would Leave You," "What Do The Simple Folk Do?" and, of course, "Camelot." In the end, this delightful story comes full circle. In his realization that the dream of Might for Right has been shattered and that uncivilized days are back, a broken Arthur finds hope in 14-year old Tom, whom Arthur commands to return to England and pronounce Camelot's quest for right, honor and justice.
