WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
With housemates that include her overly talkative friend Trudy; the womanizing and beer-guzzling Buck; and the suspiciously secretive Keith, Betty can hardly begin to relax. Things get way out of hand when sex, murder and betrayal throw the summerhouse into chaos. Ridiculing "the tabloidization of American culture," Durang conjures the Menendez Brothers and Lorena Bobbitt cases in this search for peace in a demented society. Winner of a 1999 OBIE award for playwriting, Betty's Summer Vacation satirizes a society over-saturated with scandalous headlines by adding more scandal and horror to the mix.
