Waitress Musical Rounds Out Its Cast at the American Repertory Theater

The American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has completed casting for its upcoming world-premiere production of Waitress. Based on the motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, the new musical has a book by Jessie Nelson, music and lyrics by Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles, direction by Tony winner Diane Paulus, and choreography by Chase Brock.
As previously announced, the production will star Tony winner Jessie Mueller (Beautiful — The Carole King Musical) as Jenna, a waitress and expert pie maker who is stuck in a small town and a loveless marriage. When a baking contest in a nearby county offers her a chance at escape, Jenna must weigh her commitments against a rare shot at freedom and recognition.
The cast will also feature Jeanna de Waal (Kinky Boots) as Dawn, Drew Gehling (On a Clear Day You Can See Forever) as Dr. Pomatter, Dakin Matthews (The Audience) as Joe, Keala Settle (Les Misérables) as Becky, Joe Tippett (Airline Highway) as Earl, Jeremy Morse (Bloodsong of Love) as Ogie, and Eric Anderson (Soul Doctor) as Cal. The ensemble includes Charity Angel Dawson, David Jennings, Corey Mach, Ragan Pharris, Cullen R. Titmas, and Stephanie Torns.
The creative team will include set design by Scott Pask, costumes by Suttirat Larlarb, lighting by Ken Posner, and sound by Jonathan Deans.
Performances will run from August 2-September 27 at the Loeb Drama Center with an opening night set for August 19.
