The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley Starts at Boston Children’s Theatre

The new musical, an adaptation of Jeff Brown’s popular book, begins performances tonight.

The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, based on the book by Jeff Brown, begins tonight at the Boston Children's Theatre. The musical revolves around Stanley Lambchop, a child who wishes on a star and is transformed into a flat boy. After this momentous event, his family and friends send Flat Stanley traveling around the world to places like Hollywood, Paris, and Hawaii.

The musical is directed by BCT executive director Toby Schine and codirected by Eric Love with musical direction by Jaime Castellanos. Based on the book Flat Stanley, by Jeff Brown, the musical's book is by Timothy Allen McDonald with music and lyrics by Timothy Allen McDonald, David Weinstein, Jonathan K. Waller, and Stephen Gabriel.

The show features 11 young actors including Maxwell Seelig as Stanley, Julia Perry as Mrs. Cartero, Molly Fenn as Mrs. Lambchop, Alexander Cox as Mr. Lambchop, Jennifer Small as Samantha, Cameron Perrin as Arthur, Alex Hudepohl as Mona Lisa, and Cashmere Moore, Sophie Stowell, and Patricia Plunkett as the Hollywood assistants.

"One of the most popular characters in children’s books, Flat Stanley has become a hero to so many young students," says BCT executive artistic director Burgess Clark. "With this production we are encouraging theater goers to let their imaginations soar, just as Flat Stanley does as he travels all over the world in search of adventure and fun."
