Arrabal, directed and cochoreographed by Tony nominee Sergio Trujillo (On Your Feet!), is now in rehearsal at American Repertory Theater. The show features music by Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain), choreography by Julio Zurita, and book by Tony nominee John Weidman (Contact). Performances begin May 12.

A new tango-infused dance theater piece, Arrabal follows one woman’s quest to understand the violence that took her father and disrupted a nation. Told through dance and music, the show features an ensemble and band, Orquesta Bajofonderos, direct from Buenos Aires.

Featured in the cast are Valeria Celurso (Berta), Soledad Buss (Nicole), Marianella Massarotti (Abuela), Carlos Rivarola (El Puma), Mario Rizzo (El Duende), Micaela Spina (Arrabal), Juan Cupini (Juan), and Julio Zurita (Rodolfo).

Rounding out the ensemble is Florencia Beltramo, Nicolas Cobos, Paola Jean Jean, José Lugones, Analia Morales, Leonardo Pankow, Cesar Peral, Gabriel Ponce, and Marcela Vespasiano. Teresa Garcia and John Hernan Raigoza are the shows swings.

The creative team includes scenic design by Riccardo Hernandez, costume design Clint Ramos, lighting design by Vincent Colbert, sound design Peter McBoyle, and projection design Peter Nigrini.
