Actors' Shakespeare Project Announces 2018-19 Season Lineup

Actors’ Shakespeare Project (ASP) has announced the lineup set for 2018-19 season — the first to be programmed by artistic director Christopher V. Edwards and the 15th in the company's history.

The season will open with a world-premiere translation of Shakespeare's Macbeth (September 26-November 11), written by Migdalia Cruz for the Hitz Shakespeare Translation Project as part of the "Play On!" Project of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The play will run in rotating repertory with Bill Cain's Equivocation (October 9-November 11). Set in 1605 England in the wake of the Gunpowder Plot, the story follows William Shakespeare, who is commissioned to write a lasting history of the failed assassination attempt.

Next will be the regional premiere of Nathan Alan Davis's Nat Turner in Jerusalem (January 30-February 24, 2019). The play follows Nat Turner the evening before he is scheduled to be executed, as he and attorney Thomas R. Gray, the recorder of his confessions, confront what has passed and what the future may hold.

ASP will then collaborate with the Lyric Stage Company of Boston for a production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night (March 29-April 28, 2019).

Rounding out the season will be the Boston premiere of Kate Hamill's Pride and Prejudice (June 5-30, 2019), adapted from the novel by Jane Austen.
