The Boston Pops, under the direction of Keith Lockhart, has announced special guests for its Holiday Pops season at the Prudential Center’s Symphony Hall, December 8-26.

Tony Award winner Jim Dale will narrate “The Night Before Christmas” accompanied by the Boston Pops Orchestra for the opening concert on December 8, with repeat performances on Thursday, December 9 at 4pm and 8pm. The performance will be recorded for future inclusion in a deluxe edition of children’s book author Jan Brett’s picture book version of the story, which is scheduled for publication in Fall 2011 from G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers.

Tony Award winner Jane Krakowski and American Idol finalist Melinda Doolittle will join the Pops on Wednesday, December 15, at 8pm for the 27th annual “A Company Christmas at Pops,” a fundraiser for the orchestra.

In addition, the Tanglewood Festival Chorus will join the orchestra for the entire season of 37 performances. Local actor Will LeBow will also join the Pops for special kids’ matinee programs, narrating “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “A Visit from St. Nicholas.”
