Tony Crane, Joey Collins to Star in World Premiere of Jack Kerouac’s Beat Generation

Merrimack Repertory Theatre and the University of Massachusetts Lowell have announced casting for the previously announced world premiere staged reading of Jack Kerouac’s Beat Generation, running October 10-14. Charles Towers will direct.

Playing as the centerpiece of Lowell, MA’s 2012 Jack Kerouac Literary Festival, Beat Generation is a story of friendship and karma set in the 1950s, and its characters and dialogue capture the Beat mentality at the roots of American counter culture.

The cast will feature Tony Crane (Buck) and Joey Collins (Milo) as well as Che Ayende (Jule/Julius Chauncy), Larry Bull (Slim Summerville), Armin Shimerman (Tommy), Elise Arsenault (Vicki), Brian Quijada (Manuel), Kitty Swink (Woman at the Tracks/Mrs. Bishop), Stephanie Bates (A Blonde), Ari Butler (Irwin), William Connell (Paul), Tamara Hickey (Cora), Christopher James Webb (Mezz McGillicuddy), Seumas F. Sargent (The Bishop), and Jean Lambert (Mrs. Twidley).

The design team will include David Towlun (set design), Deb Newhall (costume design), and Brian Lilienthal (lighting design).
