Boston Children’s Theatre Announces 2011-2012 Season

Boston Children’s Theatre has announced the productions planned for its 2011-2012, 60th anniversary season, which will include two world premieres.

The season will begin with the holiday favorite The Velveteen Rabbit, December 3-18. Then, the first world premiere of the season Calvin’s Monster, based on the children’s book Fairy Tale Moments by Marcia Trimble and adapted for the stage by Burgess Clark, will be presented February 4-February 12.

The season’s second world premier Reflections of a Rock Lobster, March 3-11, is Burgess Clark’s adaptation of Aaron Fricke’s book about the true story of a 17-year-old gay student from Cumberland, Rhode Island who sued his high school in 1980 for the right to escort his boyfriend to his high school prom. Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach, brought to life in this family musical that reveals the wickedness of some and the goodness of others, will be presented March 17-25. BCT will close their season with new musical adaptation of the classic Anne of Green Gables, May 5-13.

All five productions will be presented at the Boston Center for the Arts.
