The cast of the Reagle Music Theatre’s The Sound of Music celebrated the show’s opening night on August 5. Larry Sousa has directed the production, which will run through August 14.

With music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and a book by Howard Lindsay and Russell Crouse, the show centers on the events in Nazi era Germany and Austria that led to the formation of the Von Trapp family singers.

The production stars Patrick Cassidy as Captain von Trapp and Sarah Pfisterer as Maria, as well as Susan Scannell as Elsa Schraeder, Rick Sherburne as Max Detweiller, Jenny Lynn Stewart as the Mother Abbess, Gillian Gordon as Liesl, and James Forbes Sheehan as Rolf.

The Von Trapp children are Andrew Purdy (Friedrich) Isabelle Miller (Louisa), Troy Costa (Kurt), Victoria Blanchard (Brigitta), Natalie Hall (Marta), and Emma Schaufus (Gretl). Supporting players include Linda Lodi (Frau Schmidt), Margaret Felice (Sister Berte), Angela Richardson (Sister Sophia), Connell Benn (Sister Margaretta), Brad Walters (Franz), Tim Lawton (Herr Zeller), and Jim Kopycinski (Admiral Von Schreiber).

An additional 25 singers and dancers fill out the ensemble supported by a full, live pit orchestra. The production features musical staging by Susan Chebookjian and music direction by Daniel Rodriguez.
