Elizabeth Franz, Charles Socarides, Treat Williams Set for Berkshire Playwrights Lab Gala

Berkshire Playwrights Lab has announced an updated line-up for its 5th Season Gala Celebration on June 9.

The multi-media event will feature new short plays by Richard Dresser, Dipika Guha, David Mamet, Tom Minter, and Kevin Christopher Snipes, with performances by Elizabeth Franz, Charles Socarides, Jay Thomas, Amy Van Nostrand, and Treat Williams, as well as the premiere of the new short film Food for Thought written and directed by Joe Cacaci and starring Minnie Driver, Tony Shalhoub, and Meeghan Holoway.

The gala will feature presentations by students participating in the New York University Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program’s Berkshire Musical Theatre Lab. They include composers Joey Contreras and Willem Ossethuysen, lyricists Jennifer Stafford and Kate Thomas, and singers Jeff Kready and Margot Siebert.

Berkshire Playwrights Lab will also present staged readings of new plays on July 11, July 23, August 8, and August 22 at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, and the New York University Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program’s Berkshire Musical Theatre Lab on June 24 at 2:00pm at the McConnell Theatre as a co-production with Bard College at Simon’s Rock.
