A new stage adaptation of the Academy Award-winning film Guess Who's Coming to Dinner will kick off the Huntington Theatre's 2014-2015 season, the company has announced. Performances are set to begin September 5 at Boston University Theatre on the Avenue of the Arts. David Esbjornson directs this adaptation by August Wilson collaborator Todd Kreidler.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, described as "a warm family comedy," follows Joanna, who surprises her liberal, white parents when she brings home John, her African-American fiancé, to meet them. The play's script is based on the original screenplay by William Rose. Kreidler's adaptation recently played at Washington, D.C.'s Arena Stage, with The Cosby Show's Malcolm-Jamal Warner starring as Dr. John Prentice.

The Huntington's season will also include three additional plays at the Boston University Theatre on the Avenue of the Arts, three plays at the Wimberly Theatre in the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA, and a special presentation in the Roberts Studio Theatre in the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.

Huntington Theatre Company is the recipient of the 2013 Regional Theatre Tony Award. The Boston-based company brings together local and national talent and produces new and classic works.
