Commonwealth Shakespeare Company to Host Shakespeare at Fenway

The Boston theater company will celebrate 20 years of work at the Red Sox’s Fenway Park.

Boston's Commonwealth Shakespeare Company will open its 20th-anniversary season with Shakespeare at Fenway, an evening of famous scene's from Shakespeare's plays, presented by an all-star lineup of performers at Fenway Park on September 19. The event will be directed by CSC Founding Artistic Director Steven Maler.

"We look forward to welcoming the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company to Fenway Park as they perform scenes from one of the world's pre-eminent dramatists," said Red Sox President/CEO Larry Lucchino. "We hope our 'lyric little bandbox of a ballpark' will be the perfect backdrop to the plays of the Bard and the performances of the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company's talented artists."

CSC will offer a significant number of seats free of charge to various public and local nonprofit organizations, including CSC's key educational partners. The company will also host an exclusive post-performance fundraiser with the actors to help support its future seasons of work.
