Huntington Theatre Company has extended its world premiere of Kirsten Greenidge’s The Luck of the Irish, which will now run through May 6. The production is directed by Melia Bensussen and performs at the Huntington’s Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.

The play spans two time periods and three generations. In the late 1950s, a well-to-do African-American couple pay a struggling Irish family to “ghost-buy” the house on their behalf. Fifty years later, the couple’s granddaughter grapples with the contemporary racial and social issues that stem from living in a primarily white community.

The ensemble cast includes Marianna Bassham (Patty Ann), Nancy E. Carroll (Mrs. Donovan), Francesca Choy-Kee (Hannah Davis), Antoine Gray, Jr. (Miles- alternating), Shalita Grant (Nessa Charles), Jahmeel Mack (Miles- alternating), Curtis McClarin (Rich), Richard McElvain (Mr. Donovan), Kevin O’Donnell (Joe), Nikkole Salter (Lucy), and Victor Williams (Rex).

The production features scenic design by James Noone, lighting design by Justin Townsend, costume design by Mariann S. Verheyen, and sound design/music direction by David Remedios.
