Central Square Theater Announces 2012-2013 Season

Central Square Theater, as well as its resident companies The Nora Theatre Company and Underground Railway Theater, have announced plans for their 2012-2013 season.

The season will kick off with the world premiere of Car Talk: The Musical!!! (June 14-August 12). Featuring book, lyrics, and direction by Wesley Savick and original music by Michael Wartofsky, Car Talk: The Musical!!! is inspired by the beloved NPR Radio show. Next, The Nora Theatre Company will present the New England premiere of Sarah Treem’s play about women in science The How and the Why (September 27-October 21), directed by Daniel Gidron. The Nora Theatre Company and Underground Railway Theater will then present Dominic Cooke’s adaptation of the classic collection of folk tales Arabian Nights (November 23-December 30), directed by Daniel Gidron.

Early in 2013, Tanya Barfield’s exploration of family legacy Blue Door (January 10-February 3) will be presented by Underground Railway Theater. The season’s second world premiere will be Operation Epsilon (March 7-April 28) by Alan Brody, a play about the American surveillance team who gauged how close the Nazis were to making an atomic bomb, directed by Andy Sandberg. To bring the season to a close, Catalyst Collaborative@MIT, a science-theater collaboration between Underground Railway Theater and MIT, will present Lisa Loomer’s poignant look at a modern family Distracted (May 9-June 2), directed by Megan Sandberg-Zakian.
