Karen MacDonald to Receive Elliot Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence

Actor Karen MacDonald, a founding company member of the American Repertory Theatre, has been named this year’s recipient of the Elliot Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence. She will receive the prize at the 28th annual Elliot Norton Awards ceremony, to be held at the Paramount on May 17, beginning at 7pm.

The evening will also include musical performances from the shows nominated for outstanding musical this year. As previously announced, StageSource will present its annual Theatre Hero Award to Michael Maso, longtime managing director of the Huntington Theatre Company. Husband and wife Tony Shalhoub and Brooke Adams, now appearing together on Broadway in Lend Me a Tenor, will attend the awards ceremony as guests of honor.

MacDonald has appeared in more than 70 ART productions, as well as at the Huntington Theatre Company, where she was seen this season in All My Sons. Other recent credits include The Last of the Red Hot Lovers, The Misanthrope, and Twelfth Night. She has also appeared on TV’s Law and Order and in the film adaptation of The Crucible.
