Bridget Beirne will play the title role in Dean Regan’s A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline to run April 7 – 17 at John Hancock Hall. Tom Frey will direct and co-star in the production.

The show is a tribute to Cline’s spirit and a celebration of the music of her life. The story follows her climb to stardom from her hometown in Virginia to the Grand Ole Opry, Las Vegas, and Carnegie Hall. As her story is recounted, Little Big, the DJ who plays Patsy’s biggest fan, provides a comic counterpoint.

Beirne received the Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Musical Performance for her work in the SpeakEasy Stage Company production of Violet. Among her other Boston stage credits are Parade, Funny Girl, and My Fair Lady. In addition, she performed in numerous Off-Broadway productions, including That Time of the Year at the York Theatre Company, and she has appeared at such regional theaters as the Goodspeed Norma Terris Theatre, the Cape Playhouse, Fiddlehead Theatre, Worcester Foothills, and American Stage Festival, among others.

Frey was seen in the national tour of 2 Pianos/ 4 Hands and has appeared with such companies as the Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Cleveland Playhouse, and Pittsburgh Public Theatre.
