Lydia R. Diamond to Be Honored at May 9 Huntington Theatre Company Gala

Playwright Lydia R. Diamond will be honored by Huntington Theatre Company at its 2011 Spotlight Spectacular! gala benefit at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel, on Monday, May 9.

The evening will also honor Trustee Bill McQuillan, and feature a cocktail reception, a silent auction, a seated dinner, live auction, entertainment, and dancing. The gala’s host and entertainment will be announced shortly.

Diamond is a Huntington Playwriting Fellow alumna and the author of the company’s hit production of Stick Fly last spring. Her other Boston productions include Harriet Jacobs at Central Square Theatre, and Voyeurs de Venus and The Bluest Eye at Company One. Her work has been produced at many theatres around the country including Hartford Stage, Long Wharf Theatre, Arena Stage, Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, and True Colors Theatre Company.

An online auction at huntingtontheatre.org/auction will open for bidding in April.
