Huntington Theatre Company will host the regional finals of Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company August Wilson Monologue Competition, February 4 at 9am.

The competition will feature Boston high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors celebrating the writing of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright by performing a two to three-minute monologue of their choosing from one of Wilson’s ten plays. A panel of theater and education professionals will judge the contestants based on several criteria.

The three winners will receive trips to the National Final at Broadway’s August Wilson Theatre, where they will compete with regional finalists from across the nation.

The competition is named after the late Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, who died in 2005. Click here to read more about August Wilson.
