Santino Fontana, Joanna Gleason Set for Huntington Theatre Company’s Sons of the Prophet

Award-winning Broadway veterans Santino Fontana and Joanna Gleason will be featured in the world premiere of Stephen Karam’s Sons of the Prophet, to be presented by the Huntington Theatre Company at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA, April 1-May 1. Peter DuBois will direct. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

In the play, brothers Joseph and Charles Douaihy are having one hell of a year. When a prank-gone-wrong in the small town of Nazareth, PA leads to the death of their father, they struggle with their health, their livelihoods, and their sanity as a series of unfortunate events spiral into operatic miseries.

Fontana, who plays Joseph, is currently starring on Broadway in The Importance of Being Earnest. He received a Drama Desk Award for his performance in Brighton Beach Memoirs and originated the role of Tony in the Broadway production of Billy Elliot the Musical. Gleason, who plays Gloria, won Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Into the Woods, and was Tony-nominated for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Joe Egg.
