WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Moliere wrote The Misanthrope in 1666, but the court of the Sun King was as rife with hypocrisy and as chock full of corruption as 21st Century Washington D.C. Toss in a couple of frisky, scheming courtesans and an aging idealist who confronts his society's falseness by refusing to speak anything other than the truth, and you have a sexy comedy of manners as fresh as today's headlines.
Director Anders Cato returns to the Berkshire Theatre Festival with a breathtaking period production of Moliere's scathing comedic masterpiece.
Appropriate for audiences 16 and up.
Postscript performance August 23.
