Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaro's Mother of Invention follows a mother on the precipice: Mimi's husband is ailing, her children are rebelling, and her sense of self is vanishing. Luckily, the playwright can find the comedy inherent in family tragedy, and an unlikely guide to rediscovering a life that is steeped in wishing and wanting.
