Dick Cavett to Host Broadway in the Berkshires Tonight

The Shakespeare & Company benefit concert will feature Broadway talent.

Three-time Emmy Award-winning talk show legend Dick Cavett will host Shakespeare & Company's one-night-only benefit concert, Broadway In the Berkshires, tonight at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center. Proceeds from the event will benefit Shakespeare & Company’s Education and Training Programs.

"I am absolutely delighted to be hosting Shakespeare & Company's Broadway in the Berkshires," says Cavett. "Shakespeare & Company has been bringing audiences unparalleled productions of Shakespeare for over 35 years and I've long admired their work. They are an invaluable asset to the Berkshires and beyond — I can't think of a better way to celebrate their work."

The lineup of Broadway talent also slated to perform at the event includes Anne Brummel (Wicked), Charlotte Cohn (La Bohème), Hannah DelMonte (Fiddler on the Roof), Ali Ewoldt (The King and I), Russell Arden Koplin (Les Misérables), Jonathan Rayson (Little Shop of Horrors), Eric Van Tielen (Les Misérables). The cast also features the show's producer Deborah Grausman and two other Shakespeare & Company actors, David Joseph and Andy Talen, along with New York Philharmonic and LA Opera performer Michael Marcotte. Rounding out the company is Berkshire native and international opera star Maureen O'Flynn, Lauren Jelencovich, and dancer/choreographer Ruslan Sprague and his dance partner Giorgia Comeau.

The show will feature direction by Sam Scalamoni and music direction by Nate Patten. The creative team also includes arranger/composer Tod Rainey, script writer Matthew Hardy, and music consultant Michael Lavine. The evening's musicians will be Owen Young, cellist for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Dionne Jackson, flutist for the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra, and percussionist Dana De La Rosa from the band Hack Monet.
