Berkshire Theatre Group 2016 Season to Include World Premiere Starring Judd Hirsch

Berkshire Theatre Group has announced the productions planned for its upcoming 2016 summer theater season.

Offerings will include the Summer Season Musical at the Colonial Theatre: Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's Drama Desk Award-winning Little Shop of Horrors (July 6-23). The production will be directed by Ethan Heard with choreography by Parker Esse and music direction by Joel Fram.

The two productions set for the Fitzpatrick Main Stage season are Tennessee Williams' Tony Award-nominated and Pulitzer Prize-winning Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (June 22-July 16), directed by David Auburn; and the world premiere of Shem Bitterman’s The Stone Witch (July 20-August 20), directed by Steve Zuckerman. Tony and Emmy winner Judd Hirsch will star in Bitterman's new play, which is produced in association with Darlene Kaplan Entertainment and Brierpatch Productions.

In the Unicorn Theatre, Bob Moss will helm the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning Fiorello! (June 15-July 23), with a book by Jerome Weidman and George Abbott, music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick; and Gregg Edelman will direct married Broadway stars Kate Baldwin and Graham Rowat in Nick Payne's Tony-nominated Constellations (August 3-27).

Berkshire Theatre Group's 11th Annual Community Theatre Production at the Colonial Theatre will be the Tony Award and Drama Desk Award-nominated musical Beauty and The Beast (August 11-19), featuring music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and a book by Linda Woolverton. Travis G. Daly will direct, with choreography by Kathy Jo Grover and music direction by Mark Gionfriddo.

The Unicorn Theatre's fall production, the American premiere of Kate Cayley's The Bakelite Masterpiece (September 29-October 23), will be coproduced with WAM Theatre. David Adkins and Corinna May will star in the play, which will feature direction by Kristen van Ginhoven.

An announcement with casting will be made within the next several weeks.
