Tom Hewitt, Jackie Hoffman, and Michael Thomas Holmes are among the stage veterans who will take part in a staged reading of Simon Gray, Raymond Bokhour, and David Bridel’s The Suicide: A Musical Comedy, presented by Barrington Stage Company on August 26 and 27 under the direction of John Rando. The reading will take place at the
St. Germain Stage.

Based on Nikolai Erdman’s 1928 play, for which he was sent as punishment by Stalin to a Siberian labor camp for 20 years, the musical follows a man who believes that suicide is his ticket to fame and glory and his friends’ plot to exploit the man’s death for their own personal gain.

Holmes will lead the cast, which, along with Hewitt and Hoffman, features Christine Bokhour, James Ludwig, Max Perlman, Lyn Philistine, Zachary Prince, and Gordon Stanley. Fred Lassen serves as musical director.
