Williamstown Theatre Festival Announces Family Programming for the 2012 Season

Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced the family programs planned for the 2012 season.

For the 25th anniversary of WTF’s annual Free Theatre, Lila Neugebauer will direct Steve Lawson ‘s adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Valley of Fear (July 11-20 on Poker Flats Field), a classic Sherlock Holmes tale about a corpse in a country house. The cast will feature Chris Bannow (Dr. John Watson), Whitney Maris Brown (Mrs. Hudson), Eric Clem (Cecil Barker/Ted Baldwin), Michael Bradley Cohen (Sherlock Holmes), Harry Ford (Inspector MacDonald/Bodymaster McGinty), Alex Gould (Sgt. White Mason/Morris), Jeff Hathcoat (Ames/Mike Scanlan), Maura Hooper (Ivy Douglas), Caitlin Morris (Mrs. Allen/Mrs. Shafter), and Alexander Seife (John Douglas/Jack McMurdo). The ensemble will include Jacob Basri, Brock Bivens, Jeff Deglow, Emily Hunt, Braden Joyce-Schleimer, Mat Leonard, Alex Marz, Jack Mitchell, Michael Ruocco, Kerry Sheridan, and Chris Stahl.

The design team for The Valley of Fear will be comprised of Yu Shabagaki (set design), Barbara Samuels (lighting design), Asta Hostetter (costume design), and Anna-Lee Craig (sound design).

Additionally, WTF will introduce a new program of Family Friday Workshops (July 6-August 10). At these workshops, young people aged 8-14, and their families, will experience a free afternoon of exploring the realms of playwriting, improv, costume design, technical tricks, and more.
