Lee Breuer, Lou Liberatore, Mink Stole, Everett Quinton, et al. Set for Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival

Programming has been announced for the sixth annual Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival, to be held September 22-25.

The international festival provides a multi-layered, inspirational experience through a prism of performances, parties and festivities in the town where Tennessee Williams worked on some of his masterpieces. This year’s Centennial theme of DOUBLE EXPOSURE: PAST AND PRESENT is inspired by memory and imagination.

Among the highlights is an unpublished, never-before-seen Williams’ play, Once In A Lifetime, in which two conservative Midwestern families on a summer road trip to New Mexico stop at a hotel. Directed by Dennis Gromelski, it will make its world premiere as part of ONCE IN A LIFETIME – A Multiple Exposure, featuring four plays performed in a hotel. Other works in this program include Green Eyes, directed by Jef Hall-Flavin, featuring Jaimi Paige; Sunburst, directed by Patrick Falco, with Beverly Bentley and Brian Patacca; and The Traveling Companion, directed by David Kaplan, starring Jeremy Lawrence and Zachary Clause.

Tony-nominated actor Lou Liberatore will star in Something Cloudy, Something Clear, directed by Cosmin Chivu, presented on a double-bill that also includes The Parade, directed by Grant Kretchik. Everett Quinton, of the Ridiculous Theater Company, and Mink Stole, best known for her work in John Waters’ films, will co-star in Now the Cats with Jewelled Claws, an absurd comedy with music. Celebrated director Lee Breuer, co-founder of the New York experimental collective theater Mabou Mines, will conduct a master class, joined by Mabou Mines ensemble actors.

Additional works in the festival will include The Two-Character Play, directed by Gene David Kirk, staring Paul McEwan & Catherine Cusack; Alma, a dance theater piece conceived by Pedro Vieira and Inês Tarouca, and inspired by the character Alma Winemiller from Summer and Smoke; Dirty Shorts, featuring celebrity guest readings of “Miss Coynte of Greene” and “The Killer Chicken and the Closet Queen”; South Pathetic, a one-man comedy written and performed by Jim David; and Orpheus Descending, staged as a morality play in a local church, directed by Nick Potenzieri, and starring Irene Glezos, Thomas Beaudoin and Beth Bartley.
