TriArts Sharon Playhouse has announced its 2011 summer season of readings and concerts.

The series will open with a free concert on June 25 featuring numbers composed by members of the NYU Graduate Music Theatre Writing Program. In addition to the artists’ work, the event will include remarks from the songwriters.

Also on the TriArts schedule is a reading of Julianne Wick Davis and Dan Collins’ When We Met to be offered on June 29. The musical centers on what happens to two middle-aged adults after they meet on an obligatory blind date and will feature Sally Wilfert and Michael Winther.

Winther will also appear, with Farah Alvin in a reading of Sara Cooper and Zachary Redler’s Loving Leon (August 10), a musical about a husband and wife who face a crisis in their marriage after his stepfather comes to live with them.

In addition, TriArts will offer two performances of Whiskey Songs: A Night with Joe Iconis and Family on Saturday, July 30 at 5pm and 8pm. The evening will feature both familiar songs from Iconis as well as new material. Among the artists scheduled to appear with the songwriter are Lance Rubin, Badia Farha, Molly Hager, Jordan Stanley and Jared Weiss. John Simpkins will direct the shows.
