Liberty City, a solo piece written by Jessica Blank and April Yvette Thompson and performed by Thompson, will get a free reading at the Williamstown Theare Festival, at 7:30pm on Sunday, June 29.

The solo show, which debuted earlier this year at New York Theatre Workshop, chronicles Thompson’s personal story in relation to Liberty City, a place where people of the African Diaspora have settled. The performance illuminates the lives of one family through the context of social, cultural, and political events. Thompson received Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama Desk Award nominations for the show.

Thompson will co-star in Williamstown’s world premiere production of Nathan Louis Jackson’s Broke-ology, to be directed by 2008 Tony Award nominee Thomas Kail, July 9-20. Her other stage credits include The Exonerated, The Antigone Project, Light Raise the Roof, The Blacks, Medea, and Macbeth.
