Jay Armstrong Johnson, Elizabeth Stanley, Tony Yazbeck, and More Will Star in Barrington’s On the Town

Tony Award winner John Rando (A Christmas Story) helms the 1944 Leonard Bernstein, Betty Comden, and Adolph Green musical, which follows three sailors on 24-hour shore leave in New York City as they look for love and the next great adventure. Inspired by the Jerome Robbins ballet Fancy Free, the work features such showtune classics as “New York, New York,” “I Can Cook Too,” and “Some Other Time.”
Alves, Johnson, and Yazbeck will take on the roles of sailors Ozzie, Chip, and Gabey, respectively. Joining the trio will be Elizabeth Stanley (Million Dollar Quartet) as anthropologist Claire DeLoone, Deanna Doyle (On Your Toes) as Ivy Smith, Alysha Umphress (Bring It On) as cab driver Hildy Esterhazy, Nancy Opel (The Toxic Avenger) as Madame Dilly, and Tony Award winner Michael Rupert (Legally Blonde) as Judge Pitkin W. Bridgework. The production will also include a 17-member ensemble made up of Chip Abbott, Jane Bernhard, Chloe Campbell, Jenifer Dillow, Elizabeth Flanagan, Hannah Florence, Allison Guinn, Karen Hyland, Christopher Job, Michael Kushner, Jason Luks, Megan Mekjian, Harris Milgrim, Kyle Scanlon, Michael Scirrotto, Kelly Sheehan, and Chloe Tiso.
Featured on the creative team are Emmy Award winner Joshua Bergasse (choreography), Darren R. Cohen (musical direction), Beowulf Boritt (scenic design), Jennifer Caprio (costume design), Jason Lyons (lighting design), and Ed Chapman (sound design).
