Christopher Fitzgerald, Josh Grisetti, Jeremy Shamos, et al. Set for WTF’s Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

Kevin Cahoon, Paul Castree, David Costibile, Christopher Fitzgerald, Zackary Grady, Josh Grisetti, Adam Lerman, Chivas Michael, Bryce Pinkham, Joe Reid, Graham Rowat, Jeremy Shamos, David Turner, and John Patrick Walker will star in the Williamstown Theatre Festival all-male version of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, to run June 30-July 11. Jessica Stone will direct, with musical direction by Gary Adler and choreography by Denis Jones.

The musical comedy, set in Ancient Rome, features a book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Fitzgerald stars as Pseudolus, a slave who must win his freedom by playing matchmaker for his master.

The production will feature scenic design by Alexander Dodge, costume design by Catherine A. Parott, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, and sound design by Drew Levy and Tony Smolenski.

In related news, WTF has announced that Tony Glazer’s The Substance of Bliss is the winner of the 2009 Weissberger Award for Playwriting. Glazer will receive a $10,000 prize, publication of his script by Samuel French, Inc., and a reading of his play by the Festival on July 9 at the Paresky Center as part of the Fridays@3 reading series.
