Emily Bergl, Michael Countryman, Harriet Harris, Christopher Innvar, et al. Set for Barrington Stage Season

Barrington Stage has announced additional casting for its 2010 season, which will kick off with Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s Sweeney Todd (June 17-July 17). As previously announced, the production will star Jeff McCarthy in the title role and Harriet Harris as Mrs. Lovett. They will be joined by Ed Dixon as Judge Turpin, Timothy Shew as Beadle Bamford, Christianne Tisdale as the Beggar Woman, Shonn Wiley as Anthony, Sarah Stevens as Johanna, and Zachary Clause as Tobias. Julianne Boyd will direct, with Darren R. Cohen as musical director.

The Mainstage season will also include Yasmina Reza’s Art (July 22-August 7), starring Brian Avers, Michael Countryman, and David Garrison, and directed by Henry Wishcamper; and Alan Ayckbourn’s Absurd Person Singular (August 12-29), with Emily Bergl, Christopher Innvar, Robert Petkoff, and Charlotte Parry, under the direction of Jesse Berger. Two additional cast members will be announced at a later date.

On BSC’s Stage 2, Matthew Lopez’s The Whipping Man (May 26-June 13) will star Clarke Peters, LeRoy McClain, and Nick Westrate under Christopher Innvar’s direction. BSC will also present a return engagement prior to Off-Broadway of Mark St. Germain’s Freud’s Last Session (June 22-July 3), starring Martin Rayner and Mark H. Dold, and directed by Tyler Marchant.
