WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Loved for her intimate songwriting and the truth of her soulful voice, Patty Griffin is one of Austin's treasured musicians. Here she hosts a songwriters showcase to benefit Grounded in Music, supporting their mission to provide music education to underprivileged children in Austin. Joining Patty Griffin on this special evening are friends Scott Miller and Texas independent country favorite Jack Ingram, who's beautiful duet with Griffin "Seeing Stars" was featured on his latest release, Big Dreams & High Hopes. Launched in 2007 in Austin, Texas, Grounded in Music is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation whose sole mission is to change the lives of under-privileged children grade four through 12 by exposing them to the possibilities available by choosing music as a career, hobby, or alternative to life on the streets. Students are taught a variety of skills in musicianship such as writing lyrics, playing instruments, as well as exploring other areas of the music industry. The program also provides exclusive opportunities to be mentored by such well-known participating artists as event headliner Patty Griffin, My Morning Jacket, Vallejo, Broken Teeth and Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights. Please note the doors and bar will open at 7pm for an 8pm show.
