Crowns, written by Regina Taylor, is based on the book, Crowns: Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry. Sporting hats of extraordinary confectionary delights, the powerful circle of African-American women in Crowns hold their heads high as they help each other through the losses and victories of life. This joyous musical features traditional gospel music, riveting storytelling and soaring hymns. Zach's production of Crowns won B. Iden Payne Awards for Best Musical, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Musical Direction!
