Since 1983, Horizon Theatre Company's mission has been to be a leader in the production and development of contemporary theater in the Southeast. They present professional area premieres of new and recent plays and develop new artists and audiences for contemporary theater through education and outreach programs.

Horizon's productions are entertaining, thought-provoking and relevant to urban Southern audiences while also offering a perspective of hope and promise. They provide an intimate environment where diverse audiences can feel truly part of the theater experience. They focus on an acting ensemble which works collaboratively, emphasizing teamwork and the development of the whole. They provide an artistic home where a core group of local artists can grow, develop and interact with regional, national and international artists. The theater space itself has an intimate feel and holds only 185 seats.
